AUGUST CAMPS NOW POSTED

“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”

Aristotle

Sudbury is well known for its steep hockey heritage and has produced numerous great amateur and professional athletes.  Times change…so has the game with a new emphasis on speed, explosiveness, and multi-directional movement.  Adaptation to the changing game is a necessity. OPEN ICE is committed to offering the program geared to success for high caliber athletes whose goal is to accelerate and create open ice in the greatest game on the planet.

OPEN ICE SUDBURY
Will assist in the improvement of the individual athlete to enhance their game day potential.
Will employ an education-based approach that relies on hear, see, do and evaluate.
Will provide the athlete with various tools to improve upon their current level of hockey skill.
Will provide relevant instruction and be committed to using innovative techniques for learning.
Program will improve balance, acceleration, control, agility, and power in all directions, critical skills needed in all facets of the game of hockey.
Recognizes that conditioning is very important in the overall development of an elite athlete and will incorporate dry-land training components for athletes to compliment on-ice sessions.
Programs are designed to challenge, improve, motivate, measure and reward the athlete going forward into their future hockey careers.

The OPEN ICE style of teaching recognizes that elite skating is the foundation for all other hockey skills to build upon.  The ability to gain inches or fractions of seconds on an opponent can set the stage for success.
